At OOMA, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data when you use Ted, our interactive AI character app designed for group chats and livestreams.

  1. Who This Policy Applies To

    Ted is intended for users aged 13 and older. If you are under 13, you are not permitted to use the app. Users between 13 and 18 may use the app freely, but we encourage parents to monitor use.

  2. Data We Collect

    We collect the following types of information:

    • Account Info: Email address, username, and any other information provided at signup.
    • Device Info: IP address, browser type, and device ID.
    • Usage Data: App interactions, session length, and crash logs.
    • Group Content: Conversations and interactions with Ted are stored to improve response quality and personalization.
    • Local Storage: We use local storage (not cookies) to remember session details and app preferences.
  3. Why We Collect It

    We use this information to:

    • Operate and improve the Ted experience
    • Enable AI memory within group chats
    • Monitor for abuse or misuse
    • Analyze user engagement and behavior (e.g., via Mixpanel)
    • Diagnose bugs and performance issues (via Sentry)
  4. Third-Party Services

    We rely on several third-party providers to operate Ted:

    • Infrastructure: AWS (hosting, data storage), Azure (text-to-speech)
    • Analytics: Mixpanel
    • Error Monitoring: Sentry
    • AI Services: We work with a third-party large language model (LLM) provider to generate AI responses. User conversations are shared with this provider but are not used to train their models. Prompts and outputs may be temporarily stored to detect abuse or enforce content policies.

    To the best of our knowledge, none of these providers use your data for unrelated purposes such as advertising or model training.

  5. Data Storage and Security

    Your data is stored securely on AWS using:

    • TLS encryption (HTTPS) in transit
    • Encryption at rest
    • Role-based access controls (IAM policies)
  6. User Rights

    You have the right to:

    • Access the personal data we store about you
    • Delete your account and data at any time directly from the app
    • Request data export or correction

    We aim to comply with relevant privacy regulations, including GDPR and CCPA, where applicable.

  7. Payments and Purchases

    Ted plans to offer in-app purchases using third-party processors such as Stripe. We do not store your payment information ourselves.

  8. Changes to This Policy

    We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll notify you via the app or email and update the effective date at the top.
